CARiD.com - A drop-ship company with a nice website but awful service.
I ordered a part for my vehicle on CarID.com. The item and I noticed it was drop-shipped from a distributor.
I took the part out of the shipping box and discarded the box. Turns out the part was damaged, so I filed a claim online to return it - seemed easy enough. I was told to place the item in the ORIGINAL box for UPS pickup. Problem: I don't have the box anymore.
That would have been my fault if I was told to keep it - but I wasn't. I've called maybe 4 times, and each time is at least 20 minutes of hold music and the most obnoxious "trivia" I've heard in my life. Different reps have told me different things. Seems like what carid did was to file a damage claim with UPS - which means that UPS needs all the original shipping material.
The latest is that they will send me a return label "within 24-48 hours", as soon as it's approved by their "Returns Department". I'm not holding my breath. Even if their prices are competitive - they're not worth it.
Pay 5% more anywhere else and have peace of mind that you can actually make a return to a normal company. e-commerce isn't new; this shouldn't be so hard for them.
Reason of review: Return, Exchange or Cancellation Policy.
